A WebQuest for First and Second grade students.
Designed by Samantha J. Sutfin, prospective second grade teacher.
INTRODUCTION / TASK / PROCESS / EVALUATION / CONCLUSION / RESOURCES
Welcome
to the Coloring Book. Have you ever wondered why we color apples red but bananas yellow?
Well, it's because each of these items has its own special color. Color is one way in
which we can tell that an apple is different from a banana.
Now that you're inside, it's time to learn about the colors in your
crayon box. During your "color quest" you will:
Read All About Color and All The Colors Of The Rainbow
Make and present a poster about the colors in your crayon box
Create a rainbow (as a group) using the colors in your crayon box

First, you will individually read All About Color and All The Colors Of The Rainbow.
You will then click on each of the colored balls below to learn more about that color. There you will find how the color is spelled and pictures of objects that color.
Once you have visited each of the 5 different coloring pages you will make a poster presentation for 1 color only.
Included on your poster presentation should be the spelling of the color (the color should be spelled in the color of crayon you picked - example RED), a colored picture of one of the objects on that coloring page and the name of one object in your classroom of that color.
You
can earn up to 55 points on this WebQuest. You will be graded on the following items:
individual participation
the completion of the two required readings
the poster presentation including the correct spelling of your chosen color, overall neatness and creativity
group participation in the creation of a rainbow
the ability to identify the primary colors in your crayon box
You're now an expert on the colors in your crayon box. By completing this WebQuest, you used your reading, spelling, art and computer skills. I hope you found The Coloring Book adventure fun and exciting. Please come and visit your crayon box again soon.
