Introduction

Many students find themselves in the last years of high school with no idea what interests they would like to pursue. This webquest will allow late elementary and middle school students to explore a variety of careers, assess their own career interest and discover what education or training is needed to enter that career field. They will then have the opportunity to share that information with a group of their peers.

Task

After completing the activities in this webquest you will be asked to make a 5-7 minute presentation to your class. In your presentation you must include

Process

Step One: Complete the career assessments found at resources number 1 & 2. Print out the results of your assessment at resource number 1 and the completed worksheet from resource number 2.

Step Two: Visit resources to discover the future job market, required education and salary expectations for your future career.

Step Three: Complete the career ship guide at Mapping your Future.org and print out a certificate for your chosen career.

Step Four: Using the tools provided in the resources estimate the cost of the education required for your chosen career. You will turn in a written estimate of your educational costs.

Step Five: Prepare a 5 - 7 minute presentation for career day using the information you gathered during this webquest. Your presentation can be in the form of a

Conclusion

After completing the Career Day you will have been exposed to many different careers. Maybe someone else's presentation interested you in a different career. If so explore the sights again. When you begin to choose classes for Jr. High and High School, keep in mind what you will need to pursue your dreams.

Evaluation

Your work will be evaluated using the following criteria. Any project which receives a grade of lower than 50% must be redone within 3 days.
