About Manteno High School
Manteno High School is a 4 year public high school serving the residents of Manteno, Illinois and surrounding areas. MHS is part of the Manteno Community Unit School District 5.
Enrollment at MHS is approximately 600. The original portion of the building was constructed in 1974. An addition completed in 2002 provided new classroom space for the math department. The latest addition, completed in 2007 doubled the size of the school and provides for additional growth as the community grows.
Manteno High School offers a full schedule of required and elective courses designed to prepare them for life. MHS also sponsors numerous sports for the student athlete, clubs for specific interests, and student leadership opportunities. The school's mascot is the Panther and the colors are purple and white.

Late Start Days for 2026-2027
As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we would like to inform you of the scheduled late start dates for staff professional learning and collaboration.
On the following dates, students will report to school one hour later than their normal start time:
- September 2, 2026
- October 7, 2026
- November 4, 2026
- December 2, 2026
- February 3, 2027
- March 3, 2027
- April 7, 2027
- May 5, 2027
These late start mornings provide valuable time for teachers and staff to participate in professional development, curriculum planning, and collaboration focused on improving student learning.
Career Center students will attend KACC as regularly scheduled. Buses will depart the high school for KACC at 8:05 AM.
Bus pickup times will also run one hour later than normal on these dates. School dismissal times will remain unchanged.
